Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
ATTIC ("the App") is an iOS media player provided by alps.tokyo ("the Developer"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information.
1. Our approach
The App does not send your videos, viewing history, settings or any other information to the Developer's servers. The Developer does not collect or keep this information. The App contains no advertising SDKs, analytics tools or tracking.
However, anything you send through the contact form on the support page reaches the Developer (see Section 12).
2. Information stored on your device
- References to the videos and folders you add (file references, NAS and server URLs)
- Folders you organize, playback positions, playback history and thumbnails
- Copies of videos you choose to save
- Protected-folder settings and the data used to check your PIN
- Connection settings and credentials for program-guide servers
- Temporary display data for the program guide and scheduled recordings
- App settings
This information is kept in the App's storage or in the iOS Keychain. The App never modifies the original files you pick in the Files app or elsewhere.
3. Network connections
The App makes the following connections in response to what you do. None of them go through the Developer's servers.
- Finding NAS and media servers: the App looks for devices on your local network.
- Servers you specify: the App fetches lists, videos and program information from the NAS, HTTP sources and program-guide servers you set up, including through VPNs such as Tailscale.
- Wi-Fi transfer: only while the transfer screen is open, the App runs a temporary server on your device so a computer on the same network can send videos to it. Connecting requires a one-time code shown on the screen, and the server stops when you close the screen or lock the device. Deleting copies from the computer works only if you allow it on that screen.
- Scheduled recordings: only when you schedule or cancel a recording, the App sends that request to the recording server you specified.
- AirPlay: only when you choose an output device, video is sent to your device through Apple's AirPlay.
4. Device features the App uses
| Feature | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Local network | Finding and connecting to NAS and media servers; Wi-Fi transfer |
| Face ID / Touch ID | Unlocking protected folders. iOS performs the authentication; the App never receives biometric data. |
| File and photo pickers | Reading the files, images and videos you choose. The App can access only what you pick. |
| Adding to Photos | Only when you save a still frame from a video, the App adds it to your photo library. The App does not read your photo library. |
| Sharing | Receiving videos shared from other apps, and passing videos you choose to other apps |
You can change these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app. Some features stop working if you turn a permission off.
5. Protected folders
Protected folders restrict viewing and access within the App with a PIN or biometric authentication. Saved files are covered by iOS Data Protection; the App does not add its own encryption.
6. Backups
Copies of videos saved from a NAS or other server can be downloaded again, so they are excluded from device backups such as iCloud Backup. Other App data may be included in Apple backups, depending on your device settings.
7. Apple services
The App may use the App Store (purchases and restores), iCloud Backup and standard iOS features. Apple's privacy policy governs how information is handled by these services.
8. Sharing with third parties
The Developer does not share, sell or rent your information to third parties. However, messages from the contact form are delivered through an email delivery service (Resend; see Section 12). If disclosure is required by law, the Developer will respond within the scope of the law.
9. Deleting data
You can delete copies and registrations within the App. Deleting the App removes the information stored in it from your device; however, due to how iOS works, information stored in the Keychain may remain on the device. Original files and videos on your NAS are never deleted.
10. Children's privacy
The App does not collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age, except what you choose to send through the contact form.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be revised when features are added or laws change. Revisions take effect when they are posted on this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the App's update notes.
12. Contact
Please use the form on the support page.
What you send through the form (type, message, and, if you enter them, your iPhone model, iOS version and reply-to email address), along with device information your browser sends (user agent and screen size), is delivered to the Developer's email through the email delivery service Resend (a company in the United States). It is used only to reply and to investigate problems, and is not stored on the website. To prevent repeated sending, the sender's IP address is handled temporarily but is not recorded or stored.
The form can be sent only if you agree to this section, including delivery through a third party in the United States. Information on the personal information protection system of the United States is available in the materials on foreign systems published by Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission.
13. Requests about your data
To request notification of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, erasure or suspension of provision to third parties of personal data the Developer holds about you (such as contact emails), please use the form in Section 12. After confirming your identity, the Developer will respond without delay in accordance with the law. Complaints and questions are handled through the same contact.
14. Operator
The App is provided by alps.tokyo. The operator's name and address will be provided without delay on request.
If the Japanese and English versions differ, the Japanese version prevails.
